Abstract
JUSTIFICATIÓN: Programs of maternal education or education for the maternity/paternity leave programs are educational programs targeting women and/or their partners in pregnancy and the postpartum period. These programs are relevant because they are intended to contribute to the maternal and child health (Karlsen, 2011). The latest research concludes that the current benefits of antenatal education and the best educational approaches for use, are still not clear. This situation makes that an effort to research in the evaluation of these programs is again necessary. OBJECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH: To accomplish on the design, development, validation, implementation and exploitation of an evaluation tool type questionnaire, to the second-level or session of the third trimester of pregnancy, and education programs for the maternity and paternity leave which are taught in the primary attention of the national system of health centers in Madrid (Spain). STRUCTURE OF THE STUDY: Two large sections are established in the structure: The Theoretical framework aims to inform each and every one of the important elements of the research on health education and evaluation (Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4) and the Experimental framework which is divided into three consecutive phases or studies with appropriate methodology to its objectives: PHASE I: Preliminary study of questionnaire of evaluation of programs of Maternal education used in the community of Madrid in 2009 which allows to make a first program evaluation questionnaire (Chapter 5). PHASE II: Pilot study for the elaboration of a questionnaire of evaluation for the second level of the program of Maternal education in which the questionnaire developed in Phase I is validated by experts in 2010 (Chapter 6). PHASE III: Validation, implementation and exploitation of the evaluation questionnaire of the second level of education program for the maternity/paternity when applied to a representative sample of 928 people of the Madrid region of in 2011 (Chapter 7). DISCUSSION: We present an analysis of the quality of the program in the Madrid region in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, functionality and immediate impact. Besides are proposed improvement elements and future research to increase the quality of programs (Chapter 8).
