Abstract

Some fixed expressions -which we call sentence phraseologisms- have the special characteristic of constructing statements which are grammatically complete and semantically autonomous: Hay moros en la costa, Todos los tontos tienen suerte Las apariencias engañan ... These are sentence-levelled communicative units whose components are all formally fixed in the same way as other fixed constructions (proverbs, slogans, etc.) in which differentiation is not always easy: El hábito no hace al monje, No todo el monte es orégano... On the other hand, they differ from the phraseological units containing a lexically nonformed valency which is specified in the discourse: Hacérsele) la boca agua, No caber (le) el corazón en el pecho... Other near phraseologisms which are apparently autonomous are formed pragmatically or contextually: Los cachondos también se mueren, Del suelo no pasa.
