Abstract

The diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease, is sometimes an extremely difficult task, especially when incipient and of slight intensity. This research aims to characterize neurodegenerative diseases in their early stages. It uses as first order methodological tools, a corpus of oral definitions for the study of diseases in relation to the semantic deterioration of these diseases. This corpus of oral definitions is the information source of a computer system that uses intelligent artificial techniques, in particular Bayesian networks, for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, and specially Alzheimer’s disease. The Bayesian networks presents a causal model based on corpus of literal definitions of concrete semantic category –both living beings and artifacts.
