Abstract
In spite of the rejection to traditional gothic forms that some Latin American writers and critics have put forward, the modern development of the genre is present in topics, structures and characters of numerous Latin American texts. This study proposes an examination of La invención de Morel, by the Argentinean writer Adolfo Bioy Casares, from a perspective which is aimed to be wider than the merely fantastic, to emphasize and analyze the gothic features of the text.
