Abstract
The war between Russia and Ukraine triggered a battle of strategic narratives aimed at legitimizing their respective causes before international audiences. Ukraine emerged as a martyr of freedom, fighting not only for its survival but also for Western liberal values. Russia, on the other hand, promoted an anti-Western narrative advocating a new governance model in international relations. As the conflict prolonged, both Kiev and Moscow focused on persuading the Global South, whose rise accelerates the transition to a multipolar international order, both in material capabilities and in the realm of ideas.
