Abstract

The present work aims to understand the motivations of those who decide to start in the teaching profession, specifically analyzing the influence of variables such as previous degree, gender, type of bachelor’s degree and the order of choice of studies. This is a cross-sectional quantitative study was using the Factors Influencing Teaching Choice (FIT-Choice) scale, applied to a sample of 579 students. The results show that, in general, the teaching students are satisfied with the choice made and give a high value to the task of educating, allowing for the identification of relevant differences based on the variables studied. This research serves a starting point for implementing effective strategies to attract and select good student teachers.
