Abstract
Nowadays there is a strong interest to describe, analyze and understand all aspects related to the social and economic reality of family. The relationships within their members, their composition, size and economic decisions are a significant driving force to economic and social cohesion. The role of family is crucial for social wellbeing, since it performs critical functions in areas such as support for dependency, prevention from non-healthy behaviors (drugs, alcohol, etc.), solidarity among its members, or fight against academic failure. The implementation of family policies requires a prior analytical knowledge of information in order to apply the best support measures among the existing alternatives, learn from the mistakes and successes of the past, and understand the evolution of the family in the current society. It is in this context that this book of data analysis is presented. Thanks to its CD with exercises, this book exposes the main mathematic and statistical tools to extract key information in an easy and applied way. It will thus serve as a basis for the public budget allocation for the family.
