Résumé

The study analyses the relations between childrens action and representation employing an automatic motor action in which the role of objects can be reduced to a minimum. This is an area of study in which Piagets and Soviet Psychologists particularly Vygotskytheoretical frame may converge. Two experiments were carried out to test whether changes occurring in childrens representation as a result of a learning process aimed at facilitating awareness of a motor and automatic action produced changes in childrens activity when they later carry out similar actions. 30 4;0 to 8;4 years old children participated in the study. The aim of the first study was to establish analytic criteria to evaluate childrens behaviour in situations in which they are required to become aware of a motor activity. The second study analyses changes taking place in three dimensions of child behaviour (childrens representation of their body in movement, verbalizing actions, and selfcontrol) as a function of motor awareness training. Finally possible educational implications are defined.
