Zusammenfassung

Se cumple el treinta aniversario de las técnicas de biofeedback, con ese motivo se presenta de forma resumida un breve recorrido por su historia, los inicios y las aplicaciones pioneras. Se exponen los modelos más representativos que pretenden dar explicación a las causas del porqué funciona el “biofeedback” y los diferentes sistemas implicados. Así mismo, se comentan otros modelos afines que aunque no específicos del “biofeedback”, tratan de explicar algunos hechos y características del mismo. Se presentan los campos de aplicación para los cuales la práctica de esta técnica está sumamente consolidada, en algunos casos siendo la única terapia que ha demostrado su efectividad, y en otros casos se utiliza conjuntamente con otras bien sean farmacológicas o terapias de conducta. También se recogen futuras líneas de aplicación que actualmente están en proceso de investigación y desarrollo, igualmente se comentan otras áreas en las que esta técnica tiene cabida, tanto desde el punto de vista del entrenamiento para rehabilitación de trastornos como desde la educación para la prevención de patologías y desarrollo de habilidades necesarias para la ejecución de ciertas técnicas.
