Abstract

This work attemps to study the marks of the Graduates in Education (Plan 1979) of the University Complutense of Madrid, searching for some structure which allow the explanation of the data. We studied three subsamples: A) students who studied the Degree of Education from the first to the fith course; B) those who came from the Magisterio Adaptations Course, and C) students who are in the fourth and fifth year, regardless if they belong to the A or B group.Afterwards, we study the intercorrelations between the marks of the subjects, followed by their explanatory factorial analysis and, second, a descriptive analysis and a contrast of means in relation to the subjects, the Departaments to which subjects belong, the year and the academic background of to students. The conclusions show that subjects, as they have been assessed, are not good predictors of subjects of the next courses. The results of the exploratory factorial analysis are not satisfactory due to low correlations and not objective measurements.Althoug the evident limitations of the study, we consider that it would be useful to generalize these studies to all Faculties of Education, having in mind the new study plans of the European Space of Higer Education so it would make possible to constrasts the evolution of differents groups of students.
