Abstract

Nowadays the psychological treatment of pain is a basic component of the chronic pain therapy. This treatment reduces, in some syndromes, the occurrence or the worsening of pain, and in others it is directed to cope with a chronic process. Regards the specific treatments, the multidisciplinary ones are effectives but it is more evident in specific techniques as biofeedback, relaxation or the increase of activity. To improve the therapeutic resources could be necessary a simplification of the treatment and his tailoring according the specific patient. Some of the factors to consider in this way in the future are: the secondary prevention, the use of behavioural procedures, to choose the acceptance as a general approach for coping, and the use of the technology (phone and Internet) to help and motivate the patient to follow the course of the intervention programs.
