Resumen

With the growth of Internet and computerization the use of the applications is also increased multimedia to accompany and to complete the education process learning in surroundings of education and formation to distance in the universities. The Venezuelan university field demands a system of quality based on the use of the new technologies like instrument for the improvement of the equality of opportunities and the social cohesion, therefore, becomes necessary to offer a reference frame that orients those desirable characteristics in applications multimedia that facilitate the transmission of the knowledge. This article will approach problematic of the evaluation of materials the multimedia from the perspective of its use in education. For it at a first moment the characteristics of this type of materials are analyzed, the basic functions, advantages and limitations that can have their use in educative contexts, finalizing with contributions that can be extracted of the investigations made on these materials, and that can guide their evaluation.
