Abstract
Background: In the European Space of Higher Education (ESHE), student workload will be measured in ECTS. The final responsibility for deciding on the amount of ECTS for teaching-learning activities is delegated to the professors, who should have a notion of the average student work time required for each of the activities selected for each course unit. However, distance education universities require a specific assessment because of asynchronous teaching-learning activities. Objective: The aim has been to construct a questionnaire: 1) to ask about student workload, 2) in the ESHE frame, 3) specific for distance courses, 4) convenient for very different subjects, 5) to be filled online. The result has been the DIPROVATIES questionnaire. Method: DIPROVATIES questionnaire has been constructed to be filled through WebCT, a virtual learning environment system. It consists of several questions on course activities. Results: DIPROVATIES was tested with students taking a diversity of distance courses in different degrees: 1) Circuit Analysis (Electrical Engineering), 2) Allocation of Human Resources in Organizations (Pedagogy), 3) Design of Social and Cultural Development Programs (Social Education), 4) Political Anthropology (Cultural and Social Anthropology), 5) School Organization (Psychopedagogy) and 6) Spanish Grammar (Spanish Philology) in order to verify if the individual student’s perception of his workload correlates with the professor’s perception
