Abstract

The text of Martianus Capella's De nuptiis has a complex history, that reaches a critical impact with the incunabula and post-incunabula printed editions, which have influenced the establishment of the text of present editions. From the editio princeps of 1499 to that of Grotius, 1599, we identify and analyze the paratextual and textual key elements which reflect the editorial work underlying these prints, in order to throw a light on their evolution and their contribution to the interpretation of the De nuptiis
