Resumen
En un mundo cada vez más globalizado, un profundo conocimiento de la competitividad turística de un país es primordial para los responsables políticos y profesionales en el proceso de toma de decisiones. Y esto es especialmente cierto en el caso de España donde, según datos de 2014, el sector turístico generó el 10,9 por 100 del PIB y el 12,7 por 100 del empleo. Basándonos en el índice de Competitividad de Turismo y Viajes (TTCI, 2015) elaborado por el World Economic Forum y según el cual España ocupa la primera posición, analizamos las fortalezas y debilidades competitivas del país. Por otro lado, para ayudar a las autoridades locales en su proceso de toma de decisiones, elaboramos un índice sintético sobre la competitividad turística de las comunidades autónomas que identifica, en este orden, a Canarias, Cataluña, Baleares y Madrid como las más competitivas en el sector turístico en 2015.
