Abstract

This study analyses the differences on the parental acceptance-rejection, power and prestige perceived by children between two family structures: traditional versus non-traditional. We compared two samples of 86 minors matched in age, sex and socioeconomic status. The statistical analysis showed that fathers who belong to non-traditional families were perceived by children less warm and more indifferent that fathers who belong to traditional families. However, differences were found neither in fathers nor mothers on power and prestige between traditional and non-traditional families. The results are discussed according to the reviewed literature.
