Resum
This work falls into a double paradigm shift. The policy, which is the end of a cycle to the left turn undertaken in the last 15 years and the one concerning security and defense, where a decline in strictly military challenges is perceived together with a general increase in hazards security, especially the growth that comes from transnational organized crime. To analyze this exciting juncture, this work has been divided into two main groups. In the first group, cross-cutting issues affecting the entire region are discussed coming from the crisis of bolivarianismo and the regional ideological swing, to the general crisis of the various cooperation projects in the Americas, ending with today’s main threat to the security of states and citizens: transnational organized crime. In the second part we come across the analysis of those national cases with more influence in the field of security and defense for the region: the fierce conflict that cause criminal networks in Mexico, the extreme situation of Central American countries, the end of the conflict in Colombia, the collapse of the Chavez regime in Venezuela and the end of the Kirchner family´s governments in Argentina.
