Resumo
We are studying the importance of the treatment of affective and cognitive issues in relation to the implication of the student in his learning through a dynamic and adaptive interactive system, which aims to support learning “how to program the solution of problems through recursion”. The system implements, in terms of Artificial Intelligence techniques, a problem-based learning approach that is based on a well-grounded teaching methodology in the field and grants autonomy in the learning process in a guided and adaptive way, according to the student’s detected needs. On the one hand, students are motivated because their interest and progress achieved are considered. On the other hand, the system keep ups the flow in the learning process by offering relevant, resolvable and at the same time interesting problems, which present attainable challenges. Here we will not discuss the development of the system itself but the fundamental aspects addressed and some conclusions from a practical study. A conclusion derived is that the way in which both affective and cognitive
