Abstract

The project to develop a guide on the geodiversity of Spain (PIE-UNED-2017-2018- GID2016-19-GECT) is framed within the fundamental objectives of the UNED. This is the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the learning process; so that the students from different locations may achieve (from their home) the theoretical and practical knowledge of disciplines, such as Geology, in which the practical content is essential. The new didactic resources designed with these technological tools help the student of Environmental Sciences to acquire the ability to visualize and interpret geological images and the spatiotemporal relationships that they imply. Our effort, in this sense, is directed to the design of interactive electronic guides, which are complemented with the development of virtual practical itineraries through the use of free software, Google Earth, which allows interactive observation and the realization of geological itineraries with georeferencing of geological cartography, and with 3D visualization (ScketchUp) that adds the geological interpretation in depth.
