Abstract

On September 25, 2015, 193 representatives of many other nations, in the United Nations (UN), adopted a set of 17 goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all of us, as a part of a new sustainable development agenda. For each objective, there are specific goals that are desired to be achieved in the next 15 years. These objectives must be achieved in all countries and for all the inhabitants of the planet. To achieve these goals, everyone has to do their part: governments, the private sector, civil society and, of course, the university as well. In these 17 goals, 12 are directly or indirectly related to food and feeding, which means that if we progress in the improvement of food and the quality of the food of the inhabitants of the planet we will be closer on getting them; and on the contrary, if the improvement on those fields is not progressing, it is materially impossible to obtain these objectives; nor in 15 years nor ever. In this paper, we review the actual educational offer at the field of food and feeding, with the idea of detecting deficiencies and decide on what educational level, it is required, a new approach including those themes, progressing on the goal of eradicating poverty, combating inequality and injustice, and controlling climate change.
