Resumen

En este artículo se testa de modo parcial la teoría de los sentimientos de inseguridad, una explicación de la punitividad o firmeza hacia los delincuentes multirreincidentes a nivel individual. A tal fin utilizamos datos españoles del estudio 3257 del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS). Análisis de regresión logística muestran que los individuos tienden a albergar actitudes más firmes hacia los delincuentes multirreincidentes según experimentan sentimientos de inseguridad más marcados. Estos análisis controlan el efecto de variables relevantes. Los hallazgos concuerdan con tests previos de la teoría en España. Nuestro estudio ofrece evidencia de ulteriores predictores de la firmeza frente al delito: la ideología política, el nivel educativo y la religiosidad. Tanto los hallazgos como sus limitaciones son discutidas.
