Abstract
Study habits are one of the more important factors that influence on teaching-learning processes and, consequently, on academic performance. In this way, educational centers must be responsible for seeking the improvement of these topics. Therefore two schools and one institute, being all of them belonging to town next to Guadalajara city, participated in a change process from process methodology of collaborative counseling, inside cooperative research-action framework. The sample was composed by 210 students, 17 teachers and 2 external advisors. Focused groups, depth interviews, questionnaires and participant observation were used as data collect techniques. The main results showed that study habits could be considerably improved through activities, on one hand, divulgated and, on the other hand, systematic both at schools and at home. In conclusion, these educational centers that took part in this participative research-action seemed satisfied with achieved results around study habits improvement, but they have the need to continue the spiral process.
