This research aims to analyze how and why heterosexual parents working in SMEs are involved in care, paying special attention to their personal and couple processes and their work context. To this end, interviews were conducted with fathers with a partner and children up to the age of 12, both supervisors and supervised, who worked in companies with equality labels or practices and who have enjoyed work-family-reconciliation benefits. The results show that in order to become a committed father, it is necessary to adopt certain personal orientations and practices, both on the part of the father and the couple, together with the existence of facilitating elements provided by the companies. However, a favorable work environment is neither a necessary nor sufficient condition for acting as a caring parent.
