Resumen
The main objective of this research is to study of the relationship between the number of searches on the Internet, together with the Spanish universities and their quality indicators. The Internet presence ranking is obtained using the Google Trends tool. For assesing the quality of an university, we consider the global ranking of productivity, as well as those corresponding to its three dimensions: teaching, research and innovation and technological development. Based on these classifications, the relationships between the quality of the university and the volume of searches related to it are analyzed using the Spearman correlation coefficient. The study is carry out for the year 2014 and for a total of 48 universities. The results refer to the correlation coefficients. The results obtained for the correlation coefficients suggest a statistically significant relationship between the reputation and the productivity index of the university.
