Abstract

Going back to the past, it is interesting to see how patterns can be detected in the distribution of different human activities and land uses, even though there were no complex instruments to organize the territory. At the time, geohistorical sources constitute a documentary and cartographic set of great value to approach those realities, which are present in the current landscape, because they have direct relation with the organization of the space. In this work we present the case study of a farm with very special characteristics, located in the Corridor of Henares, La Acequilla, round stump in the eighteenth century. Its value as an example surpasses the merely local, as part of a type of exploitation present in Spain since the Middle Ages that has evolved differently until today. However, some common patterns that are maintained in different regions can be detected.
