Abstract

This paper seeks to provide an overview of the reception of the surviving copies’ of incunable and postincunable editions of classical Latin texts printed in Spain. These editions are highly valuable witnesses for Spanish Renaissance Humanism. The research the first fruits of which are presented here allows us to trace how cultural heritage was disseminated through the study of a limited number of books. This corpus consists of editions produced in printing houses located in Spain from the 1470s until the year 1550, including texts printed in the original Latin as well as translations. This study is based on information extracted from the databases CICLE (Corpus of Classical Latin Incunabula in Spain) and CECLE (Corpus of Classical Latin Editions in Spain).
