Resum
The aim of this study is to investigate some aspects of the relationship with handicapped people: attitudes, intergroup anxiety and zero-sum beliefs, from the motives proposed in the System Justification Theory (Jost & Banaji, 1994): Group and system justification. According to recent literature (Jost & Hunyady, 2002), the influence of these motives has been explored through the two factors of the Social Dominance Orientation scale (SDO) defined by Jost and Thompson (2000): Group-based dominance and opposition to equality. Results showed a differential pattern of predictions of each factor of SDO scale on intergroup anxiety and zero-sum beliefs. Furthermore, perceived threat to resources, assessed by zero-sum beliefs seemed to be the best predictor of attitudes towards disabilities.
