Résumé

Th is paper deals with the Roman period of Pablo Pernicharo and Juan Bautista de la Peña. Both were Spaniards and painters and they were also pioneers of the Spanish King’s pensionnaires in the 1730, in Rome. My approach is based on the Correspon dance des directeurs de l’Académie de France, namely in Nicolas Wleughels’ letters with the Duke d’Antin, the French minister. Interestingly, this primary source not only sheds light on the logistic aspects of their accommodation or their mission and confl icts in Rome, but it also allows us to better understand the interesting formative programme, mainly designed by Wleughels, they attended there.
