Abstract

In 2018, the Mayor of Madrid launched and implemented Versos al paso, which involved the carving of short texts in a high number of pedestrian crossings in the city. The project stemmed from an original idea by Boa Mistura, the group that curated it. This article does not address the nature of Versos al paso as a form of urban art, but centres on the project as a collection of poems. It also studies the project’s links with postmodern society, consumerism and the culture industry, particularly pop music.
