Résumé

One of the problems that has a fundamental infl uence on planning the management of urban waste is that of the optimum localization for installations for collection and packing (Transfer Plants), and for their subsequent treatment after they are transported to suitable places for recycling and recovery (Treatment Centers). The application of a Geographical Information System to resolve the problem, in the framework of a multi-criteria methodo logy, has allowed us to identify those areas which are suitable for the first of these functions in accordance with factors of very different types.
