Resumen

El método Delphi se ha desarrollado en diversas áreas de la investigación científica, lo que avala de alguna manera su vigencia social y metodológica. A este desarrollo metodológico no han sido ajenas las Ciencias de la Educación. En efecto, son diversas las investigaciones que han incorporado diseños y desarrollos Delphi, si bien, en ocasiones se ha denominado método Delphi a otras iniciativas que no cumplían los elementos claves de esta metodología. Esta realidad pone de manifiesto la necesidad de clarificar los parámetros fundamentales de este método. En este contexto, el propósito de este artículo es doble. En primer lugar, pretende analizar y discutir los fundamentos metodológicos del Delphi. Tras una revisión de la literatura se constata que aunque son plurales los modos de conducir procesos Delphi, se han de tener en cuenta algunos parámetros metodológicos comunes, a saber: selección y conformación del panel de expertos, número de expertos, calidad del panel, proceso iterativo en rondas y criterios a considerar para la finalización del proceso. En segundo lugar, este artículo explora las aplicaciones y usos del Delphi en la investigación actual en educación. Para ello, se analizan un total de 15 investigaciones seleccionadas tras una revisión de la literatura en perspectiva internacional para el intervalo temporal 2012-2015. El artículo aporta un conocimiento metodológico del Delphi, a la vez que ilustra su uso y aplicación actual en la investigación educativa. Se discuten sus potencialidades y dificultades, así como las aportaciones de la tecnología a su desarrollo. Además, a lo largo del manuscrito se ofrecen orientaciones que apoyan la toma de decisiones en investigaciones que incorporen el desarrollo del método Delphi.
