Zusammenfassung

This paper analyses the Medieval art displayed in the current new assemblage of the National Archaeological Museum. The historical and artistic developments in the whole range of cultures since the Late Antiquity to the decline of the Middle Ages, are fully covered. The exhibition makes the visitor move from early Christian sarcophagi, the Visigothic art, through the Islamic art, to the medieval Christian art, Romanesque, Gothic and Mudéjar. The whole collection has been deeply studied and each piece is displayed within its context in order to offer a didactic and aesthetic experience.
