Resum

Computer-aided design has been gaining ground for years as a technology of great application in industry and education, allowing a great improvement in precision, time and work possibilities with respect to conventional design tasks, enabling the development of 3D virtual models and technical documentation, as well as elements for other sectors such as animation. On the other hand, augmented reality has undergone its maximum expansion in society in recent years thanks to mobile devices, due to its implementation by users, thanks to the variety of applications available for different purposes and solutions, being its use standardized in the daily life of many users. This article presents a brief introduction and explanation of each of them, with some examples of more common or everyday uses, to finish with a relationship between both concepts, being able to see what advantages can bring the use of augmented reality together with computer-aided design. Considering that the use of computer aided design systems is necessary to create and process the visual elements to be presented through augmented reality, it is important to highlight how, thanks to this, the former also benefits, due to the options to represent the designs and their virtual mock-ups before their manufacture, preceding other design stages, and being able to carry out a feedback in the early stages of the process for its optimization
