Resumo
The LORE (Organic Law on the Regulation of Euthanasia) introduces in our legal system a new individual right, that of euthanasia, which, in the words of the legislator, comes under rights related to autonomy and dignity and is integrated into the concept of the right to die in a dignified manner. This is a controversial issue that divides society between those who believe that the right to life and its protection is absolute, versus those who argue that life, as a legal right, is not equivalent to the imposition of the obligation to live against one’s own will. In this context, several renowned jurists answer the following question: what are the scope and consequences of basing active euthanasia on the dignity of the individual.
