Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between economic growth and the distribution of wellbeing in Spain in the last half century. To this end, we study the relationship between the economic cycle and income inequality in Spain and identify the main changes in the distributive structure by social class and their consequences on social cohesion. Subsequently, we study the most disadvantaged population more in depth, considering the evolution of chronic poverty, one of the key determinants of future equality of opportunity.
