Resum

In a world that is increasingly globalized, digitized and loaded with data, future works willbe based on the analysis of data and information that is increasingly numerous. That is whyit is essential to ensure that students are not only interested in learning and studyingstatistics but also develop favorable attitudes that allow them to approach this importantsubject with pleasure, considering it useful for their future and, in this way, achieve goodacademic and professional performance in this field of study. The aim of this study is toanalyze the differences in attitudes toward statistics, measured through the AttitudesTowards Statistics Questionnaire (ATSQ), in terms of gender and knowledge scope. TheATSQ was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 1771 Peruvian university students ofthe César Vallejo University. First, a descriptive and exploratory analysis was carried outto detect atypical and lost data. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using descriptive, correlational and inferential statistics (Student's t test and Variance Analysis). Significant differences were found between men and women in the utility dimension of the attitude (t= 5.60, gl = 1753, p = .000) but not in the other dimensions (safety and positive emotions),the means indicate that men consider that statistics as more useful. Regarding theknowledge scope, significant differences were found in the three dimensions: utility (F(19,1754)= 12.47, p = .000), safety (F(19,1754) = 3.86; p = .000), and positive emotions (F(19,1754) = 3.93;p = .000), the post-hoc analyzes indicate differences between several pairs of degrees thatare explained in the body of the work. The significant differences found both in thedimension of utility in the case of gender and in all dimensions in the case of the knowledgescope allow to generate more focused interventions specific for the characteristics of thestudents that require such intervention in the UCV.
