Resumen
En este trabajo se lleva a cabo una revisiónde la estancia de John Dewey enChina, una experiencia en el extranjeroque influyó enormemente en su desarrollointelectual y humano. Para elloutilizaremos un enfoque comparativo,evaluando su modelo de diálogo culturalmediante un contraste de sus actitudes yacciones en China con las de BertrandRussell. Creemos que, gracias a esta detalladainvestigación comparativa, aclaramosmucho más sus respectivas concepcionessobre el papel que los intelectualespodrían jugar en los escenarios políticosinternacionales. Pasados cien años de suestancia y reflexiones sobre China, creemosque este capítulo de la historia delos intelectuales, a menudo desconocido,puede ser particularmente relevante paraulteriores estudios de crítica cultural ysociología del conocimiento.
