Abstract

Over the last few years, evolution in graphic design for manufacturing has certainly been important. All of this has been reached solely through the evolution of information hardware and software, mainly in computer assisted design software. At present, there is a new challenge: computers have to communicate with users by means of a new language, the user’s language instead the computer’s. Moreover, handling of computer assisted design applications has, through the use of corresponding interfaces, to be opened to users with handicaps, even disabled ones. Besides, use of information applications will have to be opened to voice recognition handling; so that, users will be able to control and, at least partially, give orders to the computer, with same exactness as through the mouse or keyboard. This paper shows the state of art in computer design handled with voice or speech recognition applications, doing emphasising in possibilities and limitations, and trying to predict the future, considering needs that will have to be reached.
