Abstract
This work aims to analyze the studies carried out by the High Abilities research group of Murcia University about Emotional intelligence. In such studies a variety of sample did participate: both gifted and non-gifted students; Primary and Secondary Education studies and students from different countries. Under the first headline the earliest national and international studies conducted by the High Abilities research group is analyzed. Under the second one, the research conducted by Sainz (2008) comparing Secondary Education Portuguese vs Spanish Gifted students' Emotional intelligence is commented. Under the third one, the latest works about EI in Secondary Education Students are presented (Fernandez-Vidal, 2001; Sainz, 2010). The data from these studies show differences favouring high ability and high intelligence students in some of the EI dimensions: Adaptability, stress management and general mood. Finally some conclusions are extracted from the referred works.
