Prestadores de servicios de comunicación audiovisual bajo demanda: novedades y prospectiva

Abstract

In Europe, the legislator has extended the obligation to invest in European content to providers of audiovisual communication services on demand, in order to adapt the sector to the new digital context. In Spain, which is late for this mandate, this imperative will be made effective by requiring quotas for content in different official languages. However, this imposition is difficult to materialize (big players can avoid it), which can ultimately create a categorizing gap between the different operators. This article reveals the keys to the current state of the situation of this obligation in light of the latest developments.
