Abstract

This thesis analyzes the contemporary male-author written novel. The main objective is to identify and measure representative elements that shape the heterodesignation (Amorós). Through the identification of these elements, this work presents two quantitative assessments. On the one hand, novels by two generations of Spanish authors that are part of the canon and the literary avant-garde were compared, specially into the representation of female identities. On the other hand, the analysis made focuses on how this representation of female identities influences in the process of production of symbolic violence (Bourdieu). To this end, a content analysis was made over twenty novels published in the period 1975-2015 by Spanish male authors. Novels have been selected on the following basis: (i) novels awarded with the Critics' Prize for Castilian Narrative (by writers who were canonized by literary critics and are currently recognized); and (ii) the most relevant works by Nocilla or Afterpop generation novelists, identified as the creative vanguard...
