Abstract

Circular economy has been positioned in recent years as one of the main strategies to achieve sustainability of water resources and mitigate the effects of climate change, in line with the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. Water, in its cycle and as part of the economy, offers a great potential for the transition to the circular economy. To achieve its full benefits, a mechanism for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of circular economy principles in the water sector is needed. What is not measured can hardly be managed efficiently.
