Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present and comment, in its general lines, the genealogy of literature that Philosophical Materialism holds as its theory of literature. In order to do this, this paper focuses on what is usually referred to as its «theoretical premises» and, next, exposes the «four families of literature» using some literary materials as example
