Resum

Pedagogy constitutes a discipline that has been differently developed in Europe. Due to the lack of European compromise in relation to Pedagogy and its implications, it is interesting to study, through the comparative methodology, the evolution of the Pedagogy as a discipline in Germany and England, which are two emblematic and paradigmatic countries in European education. Results show that German Pedagogy has been unquestionable influent to other countries. Nevertheless, in England there has a been a distinct lack of the problem of Pedagogy until nearly 21st Century and it was characteristically focused on contributions about teaching and educational praxis. Nowadays, there seems to be a tendency in Germany about giving Pedagogy its practical dimension and, in England, the tendency of going in depth into its theoretical background, achieving an unprecedented importance. In conclusion, multiple contributions identify German Pedagogy as one of the most relevant at a European level, however they question its repercussion after the creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). In England, even though the demand of Pedagogy has been happening since the 80’s, it is with the EHEA when they really have taken care of this issue. We are in front of two pedagogical trends which origin and evolutions extremely differ from each other, but it seems like they are getting increasingly closer.
