Résumé
The United States never entered the League of Nations. All the same, this did not meant that American power remained isolated vis-à-vis the international organization. Through the initiative of some in-dividuals or philanthropic organizations, the United States became involved in the so-called non-political committees of the League. Fre-quently, even the US government encouraged this involvement. Since the 1930s, the cooperation between the United States and the League intensified, which in turn contributed to American ascendancy and its reaching of superpower status by the end of World War II
