Abstract
The good expectations for the manufacturing industry at the beginning of the year have cooled as the year has progressed. Although in the first three quarters of 2023 value added, turnover and exports are growing, production does not exceed the records of 2022. However, this paradox is explained when looking at the situation for each manufacturing sector. The leadership of medium-high technology manufacturing, especially the transport equipment sector, has been crucial for the aggregate performance of Spanish manufacturing industry
