Résumé

The study of the trajectories and the academic, labour and social conditions of the university student body has acquired in recent years a relevant importance. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between work dedication during university studies and the educational paths of the scholarship student body. To this end, the cohort of scholarship students who entered undergraduate studies at the University of Barcelona in the 2011-12 academic year, consisting of 2.613 students, has been analyzed. A quantitative, ex post facto, non-experimental and longitudinal study has been carried out. The data have been analyzed by variance analysis (oneway ANOVA) and chi-square bivariate analysis. As dependent variables, academic persistence, academic performance, and educational choices are used. The independent variable, work dedication, has been classified according to three situations: a) not working, b) working less than 15 hours per week, and c) working 15 or more hours per week. The results of the application of the analysis of variance show that in relation to academic performance there are significant differences in the average number of enrolled subjects passed in the 2011-12 and 2014-15 academic years. In turn, the results of the application of bivariate techniques show significant differences in academic persistence in the 2012-13 academic year and a significant relationship between work dedication and the area of knowledge in which the degree studied by the scholarship students is located.
