Doctor by the UNED. Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia with the thesis El estudio psicosocial del emprendedor desde un modelo de intención 2004. Supervised by Dr. José Francisco Morales Domínguez, Dr. Francisco José Palací Descals.

My scientific career began with a University Teacher Training Fellowship (FPU) awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education (2000–2004), which led to my doctoral dissertation, A Psychosocial Study of the Entrepreneur. The dissertation received an award and was subsequently published by the Economic and Social Council of Spain (2005). In recognition of my research career, I have been awarded three six-year research assessment periods (sexenios de investigación) and a José Castillejo Fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education (2010), which enabled me to undertake a five-month research stay at the University of Quebec in Ottawa, Canada. My research has been organized around three main lines of inquiry: (1) leadership, (2) entrepreneurship, and (3) addictions. In recent years, my research has focused primarily on the study of leadership from an attachment theory perspective, leading to the development of the Secure Base Leadership model. I served as Principal Investigator (PI) of the project The Leader as a Secure Base in the Military Context: A Multilevel, Longitudinal, and Cross-Cultural Analysis, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (2021–2025). This line of research has recently been extended to the field of law enforcement through a new R&D project entitled Secure Base Leadership in the Spanish Civil Guard: A Multimethod Approach to the Evaluation of a Leadership Development Intervention (2025–2028). The project is coordinated by the National University of Distance Education (UNED), where I serve as Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), and brings together academic researchers from UNED and professionals from the Psychology Service of the Spanish Civil Guard. As a direct outcome of this research program, I direct the University Expert Diploma in Secure Base Leadership and Team Management (20 ECTS) at UNED, currently in its second edition. The primary aim of this postgraduate program is to transfer the scientific knowledge generated through our research to professional practice, thereby providing a sustainable mechanism for integrating research, university education, and evidence-based leadership practice.
