I am a professor of Medieval History at the National Distance Education University (UNED) in Madrid. I obtained my PhD in History and Civilisation in Florence in 2006. Previously, I studied in India (Jawaharlal Nehru University) and in Spain (Complutense University of Madrid), and later I conducted research in the United States (Columbia University), El Salvador (Ministry of Culture), and Mexico (UNACH and UNICACH). I am interested in the Ancient history of Asia and the Modern history of America. However, my main area of expertise is the cultural, artistic, political, and economic transformations of the Latin West during the Eurasian integration accelerated by the Mongol Empire in the Late Middle Ages.
