My academic life spans across Spain, the USA, the UK, and Mexico. Before joining UNED, I held positions as a Permanent Research Fellow at the Instituto de Investigaciones Filosóficas (UNAM), Lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy of Art at the University of Kent, UK, and teaching fellow in philosophy departments at University College London, Heythrop College, and Birkbeck College, University of London. I earned my PhD from University College London in 2014 and received fellowships, including the Fulbright, the British Arts and Humanities Council (AHRC), and two Jacobsen Fellowships. My research lies at the intersection of the philosophy of mind and aesthetics, with a focus on the nature of photographic representation and the concepts of fiction and authenticity in the visual arts. I am recognized as a leading author in these areas, particularly among the New Theory of Photography, with my work discussed in influential books on the philosophy of photography (Costello 2016 and Lopes 2017) and handbooks such as the Routledge Companion to the Philosophy of Art. I authored the entry on the philosophy of photography in the Encyclopedia of the Spanish Society for Analytical Philosophy. My publications include articles in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, Synthese, Inquiry, Mind, and the British Journal of Aesthetics, as well as contributions to books published by Oxford University Press, Routledge, and Palgrave Macmillan. I have also worked on the normativity and authenticity of Culinary Practices and edited a Special Issue on Food Art and Philosophy of Critica, Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía with Aaron Meskin. I have held research projects, such as the Newton Mobility Grant (British Academy) (as a PI), several under the Mexican PAPIIT program (both as PI and part of the work team) and participated in other projects funded by the Spanish Government and the Global Research Grant from the University of Georgia, USA. I have received funding to organize international events from the British Aesthetic Society and the American Society for Aesthetics. Since 2019 I serve as Co-editor in Chief of the British Journal of Aesthetics, have been a member of the editorial board of the journal Crítica, Revista Hispanoamericana de Filosofía and have reviewed for Mind, Ergo, European Journal of Philosophy, Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, among other journals. I have been a trustee of the British Society of Aesthetics, co-chair of the Diversity Committee of the American Society for Aesthetics and co-organizer of the London Aesthetics Forum. I have been invited to lecture at major forums in the field, including the British Society of Aesthetics, American Society of Aesthetics, and London Aesthetics Forum, as well as at universities such as Helsinki, Freiburg, Bayreuth, Tübingen, Uppsala, London, Reading, Dartmouth, Barcelona, or Valencia.
